ICDM: Onward and Upward

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
In the midst of chaos, Jesus Christ continues to bring order and joy to life. Thanks to your generosity, ICDM continues to be one of the vehicles for bring clarity among the chaos in Haiti. Fuel shortages and political tensions continue to plague Haiti, but ICDM continues to shine as a beacon of hope in the midst of darkness. Let me share with you a few points of light from the past few months:
Educating—ICDM began educating the children of Bayonnais 34 years ago under a mango tree. The school now serves over 800 students in two locations. In June, we held graduation services for 6th graders and 9th graders. We had 29 9th graders sit for the national educational exam and all 29 passed! This is just one indicator of our success in shaping young lives for the future. The new school year begins on September 5th and this year we complete our educational cycle by enrolling 12th graders for the first time. Next June we will celebrate our first high school graduation! Thank you to all of you who have been part of this success.
As we head into the new school year, I would remind you that we can still use your help. We are looking for more child sponsors at $35 per month. For a little over a dollar a day you can be part of changing a child’s life and in shaping the future of Haiti. To find out how to sponsor a child go to https://icdm.us/educate/sponsor/
Help us in the new school year!
Equipping- Not only do we educate children, we equip adults to share the Gospel and transform their communities. Besides hosting an annual leadership conference each year in Bayonnais, we distribute our equipping through our Portable Bible Schools and Regional Schools of Evangelism. This year we have equipped nearly 500 local church leaders through 10 different Portable Bible Schools spread out all over Haiti and the Dominican Republic. More advanced training is available through our Schools of Evangelism. This summer saw the graduation of 37 students in Port au Prince in June and 32 students in Port-de-Paix. Both north and south were covered, and the Gospel keeps spreading.

Empowering- Through our micro-loan program we have been able to fund 36 families in business ventures which will support their families and bolster the economy of Haiti. People come to us with great visions, and we help them turn those visions into reality by offering them seed money to help their visons take root. And then when the new business is viable, they pay back the loan so we can help even more families. Besides financial support we also provide training in entrepreneurship and business practices. Over 180 families have been touched by this training.

In addition to all this, we continue to empower people to take care of the health through the medical services and education provided by the Jacques S. Pierre Medical Clinic. We also empower senior citizens to live out their final years on earth with joy through our “Jesus Loves Me” Senior Ministry. When faced with chaos we can either sit helplessly in the midst of it and feel overwhelmed or we can march through it with courage and clarity. I am pleased to say that ICDM continues to lead people forward in times of uncertainly with the Good News of Jesus Christ and with practical solutions to everyday challenges. We have been doing this for the past 34 years and we will continue to do it as long as the Lord permits us.
Thank you for your support in the past. I encourage you to join us in the vanguard leading people to new life in Christ and a better life on earth. Please visit our web page at www.icdm.us to see how you can be involved.
